Hello, again! I hope everyone is enjoying their last bit of summer before school starts next week! I am really excited to announce our fall programming schedule!
As I mentioned in my last post, the Redbone Library will now offer a preschool storytime and after school arts/crafts! Starting on August 20, Ms. Joy will present the preschool storytime on Mondays at 2:30 p.m., and starting August 23, after school arts/crafts will begin at 3:30 p.m. on Thursdays. On the third Thursday of each month, Ms. Joy will offer Legos at arts/crafts. These dates will be: September 20, October 18, and November 15.
Fall programming will begin at the Leesburg Library starting September 10. Baby Storytime will be Mondays at 10:00 a.m. This program is designed for babies (0 to 24 months) and their caregivers. I use a program called Mother Goose on the Loose, which promotes the development of early literacy skills using rhymes, songs, knee bounces, and more. Preschool storytime will be Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m. This program is designed for toddlers and preschoolers age 2 to 5. This is a more traditional storytime, but it still incorporates songs, rhymes, puppets, and activities to make reading fun! An assortment of age-appropriate toys is offered after both storytimes.
Starting on September 11, Crafternoons will return to the Leesburg Library! To promote open creativity, I will be experimenting this year with regularly offering an “Open Art Studio” in addition to crafts. We are always happy to receive donations of art/craft materials, including recyclable items like toilet paper/paper towel rolls and household items such as cotton balls, brown paper lunch bags, and paper plates.
Finally, I’m excited to announce our LEGO Club meeting dates! LEGO Club will meet at 3:00 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month, starting on October 3. Other meeting dates are November 7 and December 5.
All programs are sponsored by the Lee County Library and are free and open to the public. For more information, call 759-2369.
